This policy describes how the Smart Checkout Guard extension (“we”, “the extension”) handles information when you use it. The extension helps you spot potentially risky checkout, pricing, and policy patterns on web pages you choose to scan.
When you click scan or when a content script runs on a page you are viewing, the extension may read visible text and structure from that page’s DOM (for example, product, shipping, tax, and return-policy wording) so it can analyze patterns locally in your browser.
The extension uses permissions such as activeTab, scripting, and broad page access so it can work on the sites you visit when you use it. It may use storage to save preferences (for example, your selected buyer country) on your device.
Analysis is intended to run on your device as part of the extension. We do not operate a backend service for this extension as shipped in this project; the extension does not need to send page content to our servers to function.
If you install a modified build or a future version that connects to external services, that product should provide its own privacy notice; this document applies to the open-source extension behavior described above.
This policy page may load fonts from Google Fonts when opened in a browser (standard web font delivery). The extension popup may do the same. See Google’s privacy documentation for how they process font requests.
The extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy when the extension’s behavior or permissions change. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the latest revision.
